Virtual Lab for Electrical and Electronics Engineering
As for the electrical and electronics engineering modules, it is adviced to have a complete tool box. The normal toolbox will have soldering iron with stand and wet sponge; soldering flux, lead and sucker; multimeter (digital or analogue); fine cutter and long nose plyer; small set of screw driver; 0.8mm single core wire, meltable insulator, jumpers, street board, copper board, etching chemical and some components.
Soldering Technique : 1) Place the soldering iron in its stand and plug it in;
2) Wait for the soldering iron to heat up;
3) Moisten the sponge;
4) Wipe the tip of the iron on the damp sponge; 5) Melt a little solder on the tip of the iron; 6) Place the iron on the spot, touching the board and components together; 7) Apply more lead with flux on the soldering spot; and 8) remove the iron abrupty by following components leg to form better joints.
Multimeter Reading : 1) short both probes and calibrate for zero positioning of neddle; 2) set the dial to resistance mode and use both probe to measure the resistance; 3) current and resistance are inversely proortional so the scale increment differs; 4)set the dial to AC/DC mode and use both probe to measure the AC/DC volts accordingly. As to measure electric current, probes must be connected serially in the circuits. cautious: in resistance scale, the voltage or current must not be measured at any circumstance.
Color Code Reading : First few bands represent significant values, which is closely printed. Last band of closely printed bands represents the multiplying factor while the gapped band represents the tolerance. The unit is Ohm.
Various band resistors
Capacitors Function and Terminals : A capacitor is a passive two-terminal electrical component that stores electrical energy in an electric field. Polarized capacitor has positive and negative terminals. The unit is Farad Two capacitor readings .
Inductor or Coil Reading : An inductor, also called a coil or reactor, is a passive two-terminal electrical component that stores electrical energy in a magnetic field when electric current flows through it. The unit if Henry.
How to Test Electronics Components : fuse, transformer, inductor, capacitor and resistor.
Testing Solar Cells : Connect the multimeter in parallel to the solar panel points. Then expose to sunshine or lights that lies under spectrum of illuminating rays.
Diodes in Solar Cells : functions as bypass route to prevent current losses in arrays. Rectifying diodes are ideal for such connections.
Circuit Maker 2000 Software : helps to design and simulate any electrical and electronics circuits for any electronics projects. And it is free to download, utilize and distribute.
