PhD by Thesis (Dr)

A PhD by Thesis requires min two quality journal publication with a doctoral thesis. Initially, a doctoral candidate has to conduct literature review so he/she may find the research gap. Only then write a research proposal, pertaining to the research gap. The candidate has to explain what will be the contribution to the research field or simply the novelty. With research proposal, find a research grant and if unsuccessful, then fund your research by yourself. If you proceed to any university for a research grant, then you will have to work for its faculty with stipend. This will somehow be a part-time research work as you have to work (academic duty) in full time or for a specific hours. Alternatively, you can fund your research by yourself while holding in your current position (job). Within two years, you can complete your PhD if you put your heart and soul in your research work. Furthermore, you can fund yourself for your post doctorate without any external sources or bonding. A Nobel Laureate has finished his doctoral thesis with only 26 pages and two references.

Double PhD by Thesis (DDr)

A double PhD by Thesis requires min two quality journal publication with a doctoral thesis but two universities' consent to confer DDr collaboratively. This is possible when two universities share their faculties in supervising a doctoral student. This is ideal for a research student who fund him/her-self as he/she can chose his/her supervisors who can connect universities. Bionics Engineering is an example as it requires medical faculty (Neuroscience) and engineering (Mechatronics) to produce end product. Like MIT-USA, the great.
